Mary Lou King, 79, of Delta passed away Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. She was born March 26, 1934, at Glenallen, Mo., daughter of Fonnie and Margaret Charles Cobb. She and Minferd Claude Rhodes were married in 1948. She and Charles Junior King were married in 1963...

Mary Lou King, 79, of Delta passed away Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born March 26, 1934, at Glenallen, Mo., daughter of Fonnie and Margaret Charles Cobb. She and Minferd Claude Rhodes were married in 1948. She and Charles Junior King were married in 1963.

As a child, Mary joined New Trace Creek Baptist Church. In 1968 she joined Whitewater United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and was a member of United Methodist Women. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Mary retired from Florsheim Shoe Co. in Cape Girardeau, where she was a shoe inspector 20 years.

Survivors include her husband; a son, the Rev. Ed (Yvonne) Rhodes of Crump; two daughters, Cathy (Stan) Wright of Carbondale, Ill., and Lori (Greg) Williamson of St. Louis; four grandsons, Fred Wilferth, Shawn, Eric and Adam Rhodes; two granddaughters, Rhiannon and Rachel Williamson; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda McGuire of Jackson and Madeleine Ronne of Virburnum, Mo.

Her parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at Whitewater United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church, with her son, Ed, officiating. Burial will be at a later date in New Trace Creek Cemetery near Glenallen.

Hutchings Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
