Mary Idom, 70, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
She was born Oct. 19, 1934, in Cape Girardeau County, daughter of Henderson and Ercie Green James. She and Walter Idom were married July 25, 1960, in Cape Girardeau. He died Oct. 2, 1986.
Idom worked for the Ella Vogelsang and the Joe Buerkle families. She later worked for Sprigg Street Manor and Ratliff Nursing Home as a cook. She was a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Thrisa Ayers of Cape Girardeau; two stepdaughters, Kay Simmons of Pemberton, N.J., Mary Idom of St. Louis; a son, Victor Idom of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Bertha James of Cape Girardeau; a brother, George James of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and a great-grandchild.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home and from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Johnny Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery at Cape Girardeau.
