Mary Uline Potashnick Harrison, 87, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, died Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale.
She was born Aug. 30, 1929, in St. Louis to R.B. and Uline Fenwick Potashnick. She married Charles Robert Short of Reno, Nevada. She later married Donald Louis Harrison of Cape Girardeau.
Mary was vice president of Mary Construction Co., an affiliated company with R.B. Potashnick.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and PEO Chapter FY in Cape Girardeau, initiated in 1952. She joined PEO Chapter EE and Daughters of the American Revolution Lighthouse Point Chapter upon her move to Fort Lauderdale. She was a member of Daughters of the American Colonists in Cape Girardeau.
Mary attended the University of Nevada-Reno, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority.
Mary survived a horrific airplane accident at the Cape Girardeau airport May 10, 1968. She was rescued by the heroic Huckstep brothers as they pulled her from the wreckage.
Survivors include a son, Charles Robert Harrison of Maitland, Florida; daughter, Clotilda Ann Harrison (Paul William) Brinkopf of Bonita Springs, Florida; son, Reginald Basil (Marilyn Pinkston) Harrison of Cape Girardeau; grandchildren, Joseph Arthur Harrison of Cape Girardeau, Haylee Anne Harrison of Fort Lauderdale, Mary Margaret Brinkopf of Los Angeles and Benjamin Louis (Radhika Chhabra) Brinkopf of Dallas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her twin sister, Clotilda Ann Potashnick.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Terry Epling officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to First Presbyterian Church, 235 Broadway, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.
