Mary Irene Gibson, 97, died Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Sept. 6, 1908, in Nottawa, Mich., daughter of Denton and Mary Louise Harding Krontz. She and Marion Grover Gibson were married July 18, 1927, in Rockford, Mich. He died May 31, 1985.
She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and later New Life Fellowship (Worldwide Church of God).
She worked in Grand Rapids, Mich., at Butterworth Hospital in pediatrics for 15 years. Later she became manager of Eberhardt's Bakery until retirement.
Upon retirement she and her husband moved to Cape Girardeau to be near their daughter and son in-law.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Haydn Fox of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren, Haydn Fox Jr. and wife Jane of Commerce, Texas, Lynda Ratliff and husband Ernie of Spartanburg, S.C., John Fox and wife Sherry of Kennett, Mo.; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.
Graveside service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Lorimier Cemetery, with Pastor Jeff Williams officiating.
