Mary Ellen Gerlach, 64, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 16, 1943, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of George and Elenor Moore Blanchard. She and Kevin Gerlach were married Jan. 27, 1963, in Cape Girardeau.

Gerlach was a 1961 graduate of Central High School and went on to business college. She was an administrative assistant at Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center.

Gerlach was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church since 1964 where she served on many committees. She was a volunteer Girl Scout leader and Boy Scout den mother. She was also a member of Coalesce Club.

Survivors include her husband of Cape Girardeau; a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Lisa Gerlach of Novi, Mich.; a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Darren Estes of Jackson; a sister, Lisa Davis of Chaffee, Mo.; four grandchildren, Kohl and Leah Gerlach of Novi, and Anna and Gabriel Estes of Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, with the Revs. Paul Short and Mark Martin officiating.

Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.

Memorials may be made to St. Andrew Building Fund.

Ford and Sons is in charge of the arrangements.
