MARY EVELYN WARD

OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. -- Mary Evelyn Ward, 80, of Olive Branch died Sunday, April 27, 1997, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born April 3, 1917, in Alexander County, Ill., daughter of Holly and Altha Lawrence Powless.

She lived in Mount Vernon for 45 years.

She was a member of the Park Avenue Baptist Church in Mount Vernon and attended the Lake Milligan Baptist Church at Miller City.

She married Fred V. Ward. He died on Feb. 13, 1985.

Survivors include a daughter, Judith A. "Judy" Mendenhall of Olive Branch; two sisters, Goldie McCullough of Olive Branch and Delores Howard of Mount Vernon; a granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother and sister.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by the Jones Funeral Home in Tamms.
