JACKSON, Mo. -- Mary E. Swick-Sykes, 87, passed away Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at her home. Friends may call between 4 to 7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21, at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Friends may call after noon, Sunday, Sept. 22, at Blaylock-Coleman-York Funeral Home in Murray, Ky. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by internment in Murray Memorial Garden Cemetery. Dr. Davis Roos will officiate...

JACKSON, Mo. -- Mary E. Swick-Sykes, 87, passed away Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at her home. Friends may call between 4 to 7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21, at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Friends may call after noon, Sunday, Sept. 22, at Blaylock-Coleman-York Funeral Home in Murray, Ky. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by internment in Murray Memorial Garden Cemetery. Dr. Davis Roos will officiate.

Mary was born March 14, 1915, at Tharpe, Tenn., daughter of Charlie and Ethel Miles. She married Ralph Swick, who preceded her in death. She and Walton D. "Jack" Sykes Jr. were married Oct. 10, 1990. He passed away Oct. 23, 1997.

Loving survivors include her daughter-in-law, Martha Swick of Imperial, Mo.; two step-daughters, Patricia A. Jasinski of Alpena, Mich., and Nancy Cockerham of Charlotte, N.C.; two step-sons, David Sykes of Lowell, Ind., and Frank Sykes of Pfleuger, Texas; five grandchildren; one great-grandaughter; and several step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Bill Swick, four brothers and two sisters.

Mary worked at Hecht's in Cape Girardeau and retired from the former Bib and Tucker Children's Store in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson.
