SIKESTON, Mo. -- Mary Ida Northern Cummins, 83, of Sikeston died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 25, 1917, at Poplar Bluff, Mo., daughter of Clyde Claude and Hattie Heath Wilson. She first married John W. "Buck" Northern June 15, 1933, at Charleston, Mo. He died Feb. 6, 1961. She and Woodrow Cummins were married July 23, 1961, at Poplar Bluff. He died April 9, 1989.
Cummins was a member of Calvary Temple.
Survivors include five sons, Charles Northern of St. Louis, Paul Northern and Travis Cummins of Sikeston, Oscar Northern of Milwaukee, Wis., Donnie Northern of Custer, S.D.; two daughters, Mary Hampton and Hattie McDowell of Sikeston; a stepson, Gary Cummins of Fairdealing, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Norma Cummins of Chicago; 41 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by four sons and a grandson.
Friends may call at Blanchard Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Gregory K. Forester officiating. Burial will be in Armer Cemetery.
