ORAN, Mo. -- Mary Tidwell Vandiver Crowe, 51, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo., after an extended illness. She was born May 2, 1951, in Fayette County, Ala., daughter of Bersie Lee and Clara May Tucker Tidwell. She was married to Ocie Vandever, who preceded her in death...

ORAN, Mo. -- Mary Tidwell Vandiver Crowe, 51, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo., after an extended illness.

She was born May 2, 1951, in Fayette County, Ala., daughter of Bersie Lee and Clara May Tucker Tidwell. She was married to Ocie Vandever, who preceded her in death.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Canalou, Mo., and was employed as a certified nursing assistant until her illness forced her retirement.

Survivors include a daughter, Regina A. Hooper of Sikeston; a son, Ernest L. Hooper, of Sikeston; a stepson, Terry Vandiver of Dallas, Texas; three stepdaughters, Elizabeth Tidwell of Matthews, Mo., Pam Williams of Campbell, Mo., and Kim Brand of Dallas; three brothers, James Tidwell of Matthews, Roy Tidwell of Oran, and Gene Tidwell of Canalou; seven sisters, Ethel Evans and Bonnie Ditto of Oran, Marty Holt of Blodgett, Mo., Hassie Sweet and Donna Tidwell of Bertrand, Mo., Faye Krauss of East Prairie, Mo., and Charmain Vanwyswik of Albert Lee, Minn.; two grandchildren; and 10 step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a stepdaughter and two step-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday with the Revs. Mike Johnson and Billy Butler officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
