TAMMS, Ill. -- Funeral for Mary Helen Carson of Tamms will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms. Msgr. Bill McGhee will officiate. Burial will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery in Grand Chain, Ill.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 11 a.m. until time of service.

Carson, 83, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born May 2, 1917, in Pulaski County, Ill., near Olmsted, daughter of Toney and Daisy Corzine Egner. She and Robert Carson were married Sept. 9, 1935. He died Jan. 8, 1990.

Carson was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Ullin, Ill.

Survivors include a son, Gordon "Bunky" Carson of Glen Carbon, Ill.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
