Mary Belle Mackey, 80, of St. Louis, formerly of Jackson, died Monday, April 7, 2014, at Bethesda Southgate Nursing Facility in St. Louis.
She was born April 24, 1933, in Cape Girardeau, to Webster Brian and Tincey Belle Jenkins Gholson. She and Jimmie Rodgers Mackey were married March 13, 1955. He died Feb. 9, 2006.
Mary Belle graduated from Jackson High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, Presbyterian Women and Perdue-Lear Circle, and was a former deacon and elder in the church.
Mary Belle was office manager at the former LaPierre-Sawyer Handle Factory in Jackson and also worked for the Division of Family Services in Cape Girardeau, retiring in 1998.
She is survived by a daughter, Kathy (Lannis) Phillips of St. Louis; three grandchildren, Justin Mackey, Beth (Jeremy) Starr and Allie Phillips; three great-grandchildren, Ava, Tegon and Nolan Starr; and a daughter-in-law, Janie Macke of Leopold, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Jimmie; and a brother, Roy.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to service time Thursday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Grant F.C. Gillard officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
