DUDLEY, Mo. -- Mary Ellen Barnes, 60, of Dudley died Wednesday, June 7, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born Dec. 3, 1939, at Bernie, daughter of Homer and Vern Canady Williams. She and James H. "Jim" Barnes were married Sept. 27, 1957, near Dexter...

DUDLEY, Mo. -- Mary Ellen Barnes, 60, of Dudley died Wednesday, June 7, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Dec. 3, 1939, at Bernie, daughter of Homer and Vern Canady Williams. She and James H. "Jim" Barnes were married Sept. 27, 1957, near Dexter.

Barnes was a graduate of Dexter High School. She had worked at Elder Manufacturing Co. and at the hat factory. She started a home quilting business several years ago.

She lived in the Pyle Town area until moving to Dudley in 1957.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Garry Barnes of Dexter, Barry Barnes of Dudley; a daughter, Dana Wilson of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Beryl Blunt of Dexter, Reva Lintz of Bloomfield, Erma Catrett of Stockton, Ala.; a brother, Robert Williams of Swartz Creek, Mich.; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Bob Bradford and Bob Lee officiating. Burial will be in Bloomfield Cemetery at Bloomfield.
