Mary Ann Harris, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Saint Francis Medical Center. She was born May 8, 1932, near Chaffee, Mo., to E. Dale "Pop" and Dorothy Katherine "Mom" Grojean Crites. She and Billy E. Harris were married Jan. 27, 1951, in Kelso, Mo. He preceded her in death April 5, 1996...

Mary Ann Harris, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

She was born May 8, 1932, near Chaffee, Mo., to E. Dale "Pop" and Dorothy Katherine "Mom" Grojean Crites. She and Billy E. Harris were married Jan. 27, 1951, in Kelso, Mo. He preceded her in death April 5, 1996.

She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Mary Ann was a housemother at St. Vincent College in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of VFW Auxiliary and was an avid bowler.

Survivors include three sons, Alex Harris of Jackson, Randy (Janet) Harris of Mount Vernon, Ill., and Eddie (Kim) Harris of Scott City; a daughter, Kathy Spies of Cape Girardeau; four brothers, Jerome Crites of Charleston, S.C., Jim Crites of Cahokia, Ill., Greg Crites of Kansas City, Mo., and Davey Crites of Columbia, Mo.; a sister, Judy Brashear of Buena Vista, Ark.; four grandchildren, Krista, Nathan, Ryan and Zack; three step-grandchildren, Ryan, Rob and Renee; and two great-step-grandchildren, Hannah and Cooper.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Basil Crites; a sister, Nona Walls; two infant sisters, Billie and Phyllis Crites; and a grandchild, Nicholas.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Church, with the Rev. Bobby Manso officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
