ORAN, Mo. -- Marvin Gregory Pobst, 84, of Oran passed away Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018, at Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, Missouri.
He was born July 7, 1934, in Oran to the late George and Rosie Walter Pobst. He married Frances Kay Rievley on April 22, 1972, and she preceded him in death Dec. 30, 1994.
Marvin served in the U.S. Army. After his service, he stayed busy with farming and he worked on a riverboat for a number of years. He also owned and operated a liquor store in Chaffee.
Survivors include a son, Greg Pobst of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Marla (Damian) Eftink of Leopold, Missouri; a brother, Leonard (Verleen) Pobst of Oran; and three grandchildren, Luke, Matthew and Ashley Eftink.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Burnett Chapel in Oran. Parish prayers will be at 6 p.m., followed by the Oran KC prayers.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran, with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop as celebrant. Burial will be at Guardian Angel Catholic Cemetery in Oran.
