CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Marvin "Pop" LeGrand, son of the late Zeno Frank and Marena Anna Scherer LeGrand, was born May 22, 1932, in Benton, Missouri, and departed this life Saturday, May 30, 2020, at his home in Chaffee at the age of 88 years.

On Nov. 29, 1958, he was united in marriage to Anna Marie Tucker. She preceded him in death March 19, 2007.

Marvin was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in the Korean War. He was also a 17-year member of the Army National Guard.

Marvin graduated from St. Louis School of Chiropractic in 1957. He retired Jan. 4, 1996, from U.S. Postal Service in Cape Girardeau.

He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and its Men's Club, where he served as treasurer for 20 years; Knights of Columbus in Scott City; Chaffee Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3127; and Elks Lodge in Chaffee.

Pop enjoyed a lifetime of organic gardening and being outdoors.

Survivors include a son, Joe (Peter) LeGrand of Cape Coral, Florida; daughters, Nancy (J.D.) Tollison of Chaffee, Judith (Eddie) Lipe of Tamms, Illinois, and Geralyn LeGrand of Chaffee; grandchildren, Jacob Carr, Kelsey Tollison and Katie (Joe) Coffee; and a great-grandchild on the way.

Marvin was preceded in death by three sisters:, Anita Hinkebein, Virginia LeGrand and Charlotte LeGrand; and one brother: Elmer LeGrand.

Visitation and parish prayers were held Monday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 418 S. 3rd St., in Chaffee, with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
