VILLA RIDGE, Ill. -- Martha "Marty" Curt, 79, of Villa Ridge died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at her daughter's home in Cairo, Ill. She was born Nov. 6, 1933, in Cairo, daughter of John T. and Martha Wheeler Gannon. Marty was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cairo and Pulaski-Alexander County IAHCE. VILLA RIDGE, Ill. -- Martha "Marty" Curt, 79, of Villa Ridge died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at her daughter's home in Cairo, Ill.

She was born Nov. 6, 1933, in Cairo, daughter of John T. and Martha Wheeler Gannon.

Marty was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cairo and Pulaski-Alexander County IAHCE. She was retired from First National Bank in Cairo and enjoyed quilting and sewing.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary (Don) Franklin of Cairo; a son, Steve Brinkmeyer of Cairo; a sister, Jane Winters of Indianapolis; three granddaughters, Lori Vaughn of Jackson, Christy Cookson of Morley, Mo., and Amanda Limbaugh of Jackson; five grandsons, Joe Franklin of Morton, Ill., Kevin Franklin of Decatur, Ill., Don Franklin Jr. of Kennett, Mo., Jeremy Brinkmeyer of Jackson and Jason Brinkmeyer of O'Fallon, Ill.; 14 great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Robert Brinkmeyer and Gerald Curt; a son, Bruce Brinkmeyer; and two sisters, Rosie Barkett and Peggy Whitback.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Chris Mujule as celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery at Villa Ridge.

The family requests memorials to Southern Illinois Hospice or the charity of donors choice in memory of Mrs. Curt.
