Martin Henry Welter, 97, died Thursday, June 8, 2000, at Missouri Veterans Home. He was born Sept. 15, 1902, at Sikeston, son of Jacob P. and Josephine Pfefferkorn Welter. He and Cecilia Frances Vanderfelts were married in September 1956. Welter had been a machine operator at M.E. Leming Lumber Co. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City. Martin Henry Welter, 97, died Thursday, June 8, 2000, at Missouri Veterans Home.

He was born Sept. 15, 1902, at Sikeston, son of Jacob P. and Josephine Pfefferkorn Welter. He and Cecilia Frances Vanderfelts were married in September 1956.

Welter had been a machine operator at M.E. Leming Lumber Co. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include two sons, Geroid Lix of Fruitland, Willard Lix of Orlando, Fla.; and a sister, Hermina Trinkler of Melville, Ind.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 4-8 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Church, with the Rev. David Coon officiating. Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery at Kelso.
