CAIRO, Ill. -- Martin E. Vaughn, 78, of Cairo, died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 1994, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
He was born Feb. 27, 1916, in Vienna, son of Ernest and Minnie Martin Vaughn. He and Pearl McGinnis were married Aug. 29, 1942.
Vaughn was retired, and had owned and operated a service station many years. He was a member of Cairo VFW Post 2649, Cairo Masonic Lodge 237, and attended First Southern Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gary Vaughn of Mounds, Arland Vaughn of Cairo; a daughter, Jackie Phillips of Mounds; a brother, Carlos Vaughn of Metropolis; three sisters, Violet Castleman of Whiteash, Mary Elliott of Vienna, Ernestine Mohr of Metropolis; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren, and a great-stepgrandchild.
Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo after 5 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Southern Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bill Gholson officiating. Burial will be in the U.S. National Cemetery at Mound City.
