SIKESTON -- Martin Eugene Swinney Sr., 56, of Sikeston died March 5, 1993 in the St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Nov. 12, 1936, in Sikeston to the late Martin Ashton Swinney and Florence Baehr Deckley. She survives of Mayer, Ariz.
He was a 1956 graduate of Sikeston High School, and served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves from 1954 to 1962.
He worked as a dock hand and fuel man for Murphy Motor Freight Lines in LaGrange, Ill., from 1971 until he retired in 1984. He attended Temple Baptist Church in Sikeston.
He married Jacquetta Cloin on Nov. 29, 1959, in Sikeston. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Martin E. Swinney Jr. of Joliet, Ill., and Richard Swinney of Bolingbrook, Ill.; one daughter, Karen Morrison of Streamwood, Ill.; a stepmother, Doris Swinney Teel of Pattonsburg, Mo.; one brother, William A. Swinney of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; two sisters, Sue Tavoletti of Sandusky, Ohio, and Debby Dilks of Sibley, Mo.; and four grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Marvin Butrum, pastor of the Temple Baptist Church in Sikeston, officiating.
Burial will be in New Morley Cemetery in Morley.
