Martha Poe Vandivort, 95, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, June 20, 2005, at Saint Francis Medical Center. She was born Feb. 26, 1910, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Benjamin E. and Maude Browning Vandivort. She and S. Russell Vandivort were married Sept. 25, 1937. He died Sept. 28,1977...

Martha Poe Vandivort, 95, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, June 20, 2005, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 26, 1910, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Benjamin E. and Maude Browning Vandivort. She and S. Russell Vandivort were married Sept. 25, 1937. He died Sept. 28,1977.

Mrs. Vandivort received a bachelor of science degree in education from Southeast Missouri State University, and taught eight years in Cape Girardeau schools. She lived in Cape Girardeau until 1939 then moved to St. Louis, New York, San Francisco, Houston, and back to Cape Girardeau in 1983.

She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, PEO, Nancy Chapter of DAR, and Thomas Sanford DAC.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas and Vicki Vandivort of Tulsa, Okla., Russell Vandivort of Austin, Texas; two daughters, Mary and Dr. Richard DeVaul of College Station, Texas, Julia Roundy of Vacaville, Calif.; a brother, Benjamin and Ruth Poe of Chicago; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Christ Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Robert Towner officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
