Martha Lee Portlock Reynolds, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
She was born March 4, 1924, in Sikeston, Mo., the daughter of Walter David and Gladys Ethel Meatte Portlock. She and Patrick C. Reynolds were married in Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death July 3, 1990.
Martha was raised in Sikeston and graduated from Sikeston High School. She served in the U.S. Army in 1944. She was a longtime Cape Girardeau resident and was a member of St. Mary Cathedral.
Survivors include five sons, David (Pat) Bond of Bluff, Utah, Bill Bond of Jackson, Christopher (Anna) Reynolds of Salinas, Calif., Shaugnessy (Monica) Reynolds of San Diego, Tom (Sue) Reynolds of Cincinnati; four daughters, Beverley Reynolds of St. Peters, Mo., Kathy (Ed) Welker of Gordonville, Mo., Caroline (Terry) Williams of Millersville, Mo., Mary Jo (John) Shaw of Cape Girardeau; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Stephen Reynolds; two brothers; and two sisters.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Parish prayers and rosary will be at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Cathedral, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
