SIKESTON -- Martha M. Hodges, 76, of Sikeston, died Monday, June 10, 1996, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 20, 1919, at Morley, daughter of Charles G. and Fay Shipman Oliver. She and James E. "Mush" Hodges were married Sept. 2, 1937, at Charleston. He died March 19, 1989.
Hodges had worked for the International Shoe Company in Sikeston before taking a job at Sterling Shoe Co. in Sikeston. She was employed as a sales clerk for Sterling Shoe for 35 years. She was a member of the Illinois Avenue General Baptist Church in Sikeston.
Survivors included a son, Glenn E. Hodges of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Patricia Higdon and Mary "Doatsie" Headlee, both of Sikeston, and Carol Riley of Benton; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters and two sisters.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Thomas Walls officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
