MARTHA HARTY

SIKESTON -- Funeral service for Martha Harty will be held at 11 a.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. The Rev. Charles E. Buck will officiate, with burial in Old Morley Cemetery at Morley.

Harty, 86, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 1996, at Bertrand Nursing Facility.

She was born May 16, 1910, at Morley, daughter of Robert L. and Ella P. Harris Harrison. She and Alfred Jackson Harty were married in 1935. He died in September 1968.

Harty attended Southeast Missouri State University, taught school four years, and then attended the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Journalism.

She lived in Jefferson City many years, and worked in the State of Missouri Sales and Income Tax Divisions. She had been a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, Jefferson City Century Club, life member of United Methodist Church, and a member of a church circle and United Methodist Women.

Survivors include a son, Robert Harty of St. Louis; a daughter, Susan Schriefer of Omaha, Neb.; a sister, Ruth Harrison of Sikeston; and five grandchildren.
