BERNIE -- Funeral for Martha Elizabeth Goad of Bernie will be held at 2 p.m. today at Rainey Funeral Chapel in Bernie. The Rev. Kenneth Shelton will officiate, with burial in Sycamore Grove Cemetery in rural Dexter.

Goad, 80, died Wednesday, June 24, 1998, at the home of a son in Sikeston.

She was born Dec. 28, 1917, at Dexter, daughter of William "Bill" and Vida Chase Goad. She and Dwight Leland Goad were married Oct. 31, 1941, at Bernie. He died July 23, 1997.

Goad was a member of White Oak Grove General Baptist Church in rural Bernie.

Survivors include a son, Dannie Goad of Sikeston; four brothers, Charlie Jennings of Dexter, Dawsey Jennings of Waterford, Mich., Arthur Jennings of Pontiac, Mich., Frank Jennings of Poplar Bluff; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
