Martha Gilpin

COMMERCE, Mo. -- Martha Louise Gilpin, 86, of Commerce died Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Sept. 9, 1928, in Illmo (Scott City), to Claude and Mabel Loftin Sanders. She married Herschel O'Dell Gilpin on Sept. 9, 1948, in Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death Jan. 7, 2009.

Martha was a member of St. Paul Methodist Church in Commerce.

Survivors include a son, David (Kay) Gilpin of Commerce; two grandchildren, Melinda (Scott) Engelen and Brian (Krissy) Gilpin; three great-grandchildren, Addison and Andrew Engelen and Eli Gilpin.

She was preceded in death by a brother, J.C. Sanders.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Michael Woods officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery at Commerce.
