Martha Jean Elliott, 88, of Maryville, Ill., formerly of Scott City, died Saturday, June 14, 2008, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.
She was born Nov. 23, 1919, in Illmo, daughter of James Alfred and Ella Augusta Ohning Oliver. She and Glenn Alwyn Elliott were married Nov. 9, 1942, in Clayton, Mo. He died Jan. 8, 1992.
Elliott retired as a telephone operator with Southwestern Bell. She was a member of Illmo United Methodist Church and Telephone Pioneers of America.
Survivors include a son, Bud Elliott of Swansea, Ill.; a daughter, Mary Ellen Hoffman of Fairhope, Ala.; a grandson, Elliott Hoffman of Cleveland; two granddaughters, April Elliott of Albuquerque, N.M., and Billie Jean Elliott of Swansea.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Jim Woeltje officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
Donations may be made to Illmo United Methodist Church in Scott City.
