MARTHA BURNEY

EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- Martha Evelyn Burney, 75, of East Prairie died Friday, May 11, 2001, at her residence.

She was born July 17, 1925, at Hickman, Ky., daughter of Willis Raymond "Ray" and Leatha Jane Griffin Hall. She and Charley Burney were married Oct. 2, 1943. He died Nov. 1, 1995.

Burney had lived in Mississippi County for the past 58 years before moving to Kentucky.

Survivors include four sons, James Burney of Las Vegas, Nev., Charlie Burney of Kevil, Ky., Melvin Burney and Brian Burney, both of East Prairie; two daughters, Patricia Chance and Janie Jernigan, both of East Prairie; a brother, Arvil Hall of East Prairie; a sister, Ruby England of East Prairie; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie after 2 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Flo Ella Patrick will officiate, with burial in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
