Martha Evedeen Carter Bollinger, 87, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Martha Evedeen Carter Bollinger, 87, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Aug. 22, 1930, in Vandalia, Illinois, to Howard and Viola Baldwin Carter. She and the Rev. Lloyd James Bollinger were married Sept. 26, 1947. He preceded her in death Aug. 21, 2010.

Evedeen was a high-school and college graduate. She earned a bachelor's degree in education and taught business education at Lebanon High School in Illinois.

She was a talented piano player and was able to play by ear. She also played the mandolin. Evedeen enjoyed working puzzles, reading and gardening and had a special love for all animals.

Loving survivors include her daughters, Janet (Gary) Krieger of Pekin, Illinois, and Martha J. Bollinger (Steve Dunn) of Jackson; brother, Carl Carter of St. Ann, Missouri; grandchildren, Angela Fickert (Bill Dillow) and Mike Krieger (Tonia Dillow); and great-grandson, Brendan Fickert.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, seven brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Funeral Home--Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Janet Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sedgewickville, Missouri.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
