Marshall Mack Rankin, 84, of Benton, Mo., formerly of Cape Girardeau, beloved husband, father and grandfather went to be with Jesus on Friday, July 6, 2012, at his home, surrounded by family.

He was born Sunday, Oct. 30, 1927, at St. Louis, to the late Willis Edgar and Myrtle Clayton Rankin.

He and Patricia Ann Hyslop were married Sunday, April 20, 1947, in Bloomfield, Mo.

Marshall served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II and served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War.

He was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Benton, worked in auto sales both locally and in California, worked for Potasnik more than 10 years as a parts manager, and owned and operated a service station in California and Cape Girardeau until 1972. He managed Rhodes City Truck Plaza until 1976 and was sales manager for KAR products from 1976 to 1993.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann Rankin of Benton; son, Mark Rankin of Benton; two daughters, Marsha Ann Lacy (Rodney) of Mesa, Ariz., Melanie Ruth Shultz (Rick) of Chandler, Ariz; three sisters, Viola Smith of Kenosha, Wis., Wilma Berry of Nakomis, Fla., Mary Ann Egner of O'Fallon, Mo.; six grandchildren, Michelle Lacy Abercrombie (Josh), Brandon Lacy, Jessica Rankin, Bailey Shultz, Briana Shultz, Patrick Marshall Shultz; and one great-grandchild, Logan Davis Rankin.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Verna Thompson, and a brother, C.C. Rankin.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Unity Baptist Church in Benton, with the Rev. Dennis Lowe, the Rev. Dan Stevens and the Rev. Kevin Eskew officiating.

Burial will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Southeast Hospice.
