JOPLIN, Mo. — Mark Dwain Tidwell, 61, of Joplin, formerly of Jackson, peacefully passed away Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023.
He was born June 10, 1962, in Sikeston, Missouri.
Mark was employed by Van Matre Buick Company in Cape Girardeau for 28 years.
He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved collecting St. Louis Cardinals sports memorabilia.
Mark had a real passion for woodworking. He enjoyed building birdhouses, chairs, tables and benches. He had named his operation M.T. Wood. He also had a great interest in outdoor activities, especially yard work. Mark absolutely loved working in the yard, planting and landscaping.
He was devoted to his beloved family and friends and was always willing to help anyone who was in need.
Mark is survived by his two sons, Matthew (Jenney) Tidwell of Lakeland, Florida, and Shawn (Kayla) Tidwell of Jackson; partner, Sonya Tullis of Joplin; two sisters and one brother, Karla (Chris) Clifton of Cape Girardeau, Debi Tidwell (Dori McNeal) of Murphysboro, Illinois, and Jack Tidwell (Terri Klaus) of Cape Girardeau; his mother, Wanda Tidwell of Cape Girardeau; and three granddaughters, Mason, Lynden and Payton Tidwell of Lakeland.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Jack Tidwell.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
A gathering of friends and family will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. A celebration of life will follow at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Chris Clifton officiating.
