JACKSON -- Mark David Adams, 39, of Grand Haven, Mich., died Sunday, March 5, 2000, at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, after a long battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mark was born March 28, 1960, in Cape Girardeau, son of Bill and Shirley Martin Adams. He and Chantal Schiffeler of San Francisco, Calif., were married March 21, 1995.
Mark graduated from Jackson High School in 1979. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson, and former member of Order of DeMolay of Jackson.
In 1983 he entered the U.S. Coast Guard, where he served until his death. His 16 years of service included a year in Istanbul, Turkey, and serving as an instructor at Petaluma, Calif. He was currently senior chief recruiting officer in Grand Haven.
Survivors include his wife, Chantal; his parents, Bill and Shirley Adams of Jackson; a brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Kim Adams of St. Louis; a sister and brother-in-law, Tammy and Kirk Francis of St. Louis; and maternal grandmother, Freda Martin of Jackson.
McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson is in charge of arrangements.
