Marjorie Manerva Quick Proffer, 96, of Cape Girardeau passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at the Lutheran Home.
She was born Aug. 31, 1916, near Bloomfield, Mo., daughter of Luther F. and Millie A Scism Quick. She and Lee T. Proffer were married Oct. 29, 1943, at Dexter, Mo.
Marjorie had lived in Bloomfield all her life, and she had a teaching career of more than 30 years. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Bloomfield until moving to Cape Girardeau.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee T. Proffer; four brothers, Asa A. Quick, George O. Quick, Cloid V. Quick and Seldon F. Quick; two sisters, Floda Glaser and Geraldine Quick.
Survivors include a son, James Proffer of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Mary Johnson of Festus, Mo.; a grandson, Jason Johnson of Festus; a sister-in-law, Louisa Quick of Bloomfield; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Friends may visit from noon until service time Monday at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
The funeral will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with Jeremy Myers of Bloomfield officiating. Interment will be in North Antioch Cemetery near Bloomfield.
