MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Marjorie Bessine Green, 92, of Marble Hill passed away Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015, at the Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Sept. 3, 1923, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of William Earnest and May Shrum Farnsworth. She moved with her family to Missouri.
Marjorie attended Patton, Missouri, High School, where she met Linder Starkey Green. They were united in marriage Aug. 17, 1940. Marjorie graduated from the Lutesville, Missouri, High School in 1954, then attended Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri.
She spent most of her life working as an accountant in Lutesville, Jefferson City and Jackson.
Marjorie loved to garden, sew, crochet and cook. She always had pie, cake, candy or cookies when the family visited and of course great meals from the garden.
She is survived by two daughters, Ruth Green (Gary) Hipple of La Feria, Texas, and Florence Green (Michael) Hurst of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren, Jeffery (Heather) Ingerson of Sierra Vista, Arizona, James David (Darlene) Green of St. Hesperia, California, Tracey Lynn (Javier) Garza of Aurora, Illinois, Julie (Clayton) Shackelford of El Paso, Texas, and Sara (Bryan) Doyen of Jackson; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mae (Shrum) and Earnest W. Farnsworth; her husband, Linder Starkey Green; daughter Linda Lou Myers Lumley; and son, James Walter Green.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. today at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
Funeral services for Marjorie and her son, James Walter Green, will be held at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gerald Huff officiating. Burial will follow in the Plainview Cemetery near Marble Hill.
