DEXTER, Mo. -- Marion Mitchell, 77, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, at the Hunter Acres Care Center in Sikeston, Mo.
He was born Aug. 31, 1924, at Essex, Mo., the son of Willie and Anna Ledbetter Mitchell. He married Virginia Lawrence on Aug. 8, 1946, at Dexter. She preceded him in death on March 22, 1996. He then married Sue Sides Joseph on Jan. 16, 1999, at Essex. She survives.
A resident of rural Dexter, he attended the Hopewell General Baptist Church in Frisco, Mo. He was a retired line worker for General Motors in Flint, Mich. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He also is survived by two sons, Mike Mitchell of Puyallup, Wash., and Reed Mitchell of Shoreline, Wash.; a stepson, Terry Joseph of Wappapello, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Karen McHand of Olive Branch, Miss.; seven grandchildren; 10 grandstepchildren; and three great-stepgrandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by his parents, a son and a stepdaughter.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the Rainey Funeral Home in Dexter.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Martin Goode officiating.
Burial will be at the Dexter Cemetery.
