Marion Emilie Hager Blattner passed away early Sunday morning at her home at Capetown Arbors, where she had lived the past few years.
Marion was born to Arthur and Clara Hager in Gordonville on Feb. 9, 1924. She worked at the telephone office after graduating from high school. In 1945, Marion married Paul E. Blattner, and the couple settled in Cape Girardeau to raise a family.
Marion was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church more than 30 years. She served as PTA president for Trinity Lutheran School, where she also was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader.
Marion was a member of the Exchangettes service organization and served as an officer.
After her children were in school, Marion took on employment outside of the home, working for more than 20 years at Zickfield's jewelry store.
Marion and Paul moved to Gordonville when Paul retired and became active members of Christ Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her children, Paul David (Noretta) Blattner, Charlotte (Ed) Ellington, Emily Limbaugh and Ty Blattner (Dara Kay Snider); sister, Dorris Sawyer; grandchildren, Kristi, Drew, Jacob, Lucas, Katie, JP, Maggie, Mandy, Clay, Whitney, Mark and Reid; and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Blattner; parents; three brothers, Louis, Kenneth and Harlan "Bud" Hager; and granddaughter, Laura Proffer.
Services will be Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church, 248 Albert St. in Gordonville, with visitation at 10 a.m. and service at noon, with Pastor Jacob T. May officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or Christ Lutheran Christian School Fund.
