BELL CITY, Mo. — Marilyn Richmond, 98, of Bell City passed away Friday, July 30, 2021, at the Chaffee Nursing Center.
She was the daughter of Clyde and Avis Sneed and was the oldest of seven children.
In 1933, Marilyn and her family moved to Painton, Missouri, where her father had purchased a farm. She was a 1940 graduate of Bell City High School.
In August of 1941 in Oran, Missouri, Marilyn was united in marriage to Dwight Richmond. The couple moved to St. Louis in 1941. In 1942, Marilyn and Dwight moved to California, where they were employed as welders in a shipyard. During this time, they helped build Liberty Ships and Tankers in San Francisco. In 1943, the couple moved to Bell City. Marilyn became a homemaker and Dwight began as a farmer.
Survivors include a son, Stephen Richmond of Bell City; a daughter, Sherry (Jerry) Wright of Dade City, Florida; two granddaughters, Cindy Cascioli of Davisburg, Michigan, and Deann Dennis of Commerce, Michigan; five great-grandchildren, Brandon, Brett, Gabriella, Isabella and Matteo; and a brother, Larry Sneed of Dexter, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers; and a sister.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Bell City. The Rev. Jason Meyers will officiate
Morgan Funeral Home in Advance, Missouri, is in charge of all arrangements.
