Marilyn "Joann" Grebe, 82, of Jackson passed away Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at the Monticello House in Jackson, where she had resided for the past two years. She was born June 5, 1932, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Joseph G. and Lucy Allen Birk. She and Milton A. Grebe were married Feb. 15, 1953, in Jackson. He passed away Feb. 27, 2005...

Marilyn "Joann" Grebe, 82, of Jackson passed away Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at the Monticello House in Jackson, where she had resided for the past two years.

She was born June 5, 1932, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Joseph G. and Lucy Allen Birk. She and Milton A. Grebe were married Feb. 15, 1953, in Jackson. He passed away Feb. 27, 2005.

Joann graduated from Jackson High School in 1950. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson, where she was a member of the Concordia Guild. She volunteered at St. Paul and for Southeast Hospital. Joann enjoyed traveling, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.

Loving survivors include a daughter, Jody (Tim) Werner of Jackson; two sons, Mike Grebe of Jackson and Mark (Linda) Grebe of Herculaneum, Missouri; two granddaughters, Amy (Tom) Ratledge and Angela (Cory) Finch; seven great-grandchildren, Megan (Curtis) Carter, Justin Comegys, Allison Comegys, Julia Comegys, Caleb Ratledge, Isaac Ratledge and Abigail Ratledge; a great-great-granddaughter, Ellie Carter; a sister, Georgia Smith of Jackson; and a sister-in-law, Marie Birk of Cape Girardeau.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a grandson, Derek Austin Werner; a sister, Kathryn Green; a brother, Allen Birk; and an infant twin brother, Milford "Jerry" Birk.

Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Jason Shaw officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Saxony Lutheran High School.
