Marilyn "Mitzi" R. Colyer, 73, of McClure, Ill., passed away Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at the Chateau Girardeau Health Center. She was born Feb. 15, 1940, in Seward, Neb., to the late Ted and Erma Zillig Flowerday. Mitzi and Bill were married July 8, 1961, in Seward. They were married 52 years...

Marilyn "Mitzi" R. Colyer, 73, of McClure, Ill., passed away Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at the Chateau Girardeau Health Center.

She was born Feb. 15, 1940, in Seward, Neb., to the late Ted and Erma Zillig Flowerday.

Mitzi and Bill were married July 8, 1961, in Seward. They were married 52 years.

She was a 1957 graduate of Seward High School. She was a member of the East Cape Baptist Church, where she was very active in the WMU, the choir and as a soloist. Mitzi was a retired receptionist for Dr. Hal Brown, retired bookkeeper for Colyer Farms, a Shawnee Band Booster member and a Mary Kay consultant. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother, farm wife, grandmother, sister and friend.

Mitzi is survived by her children, U.S. Navy Capt. Timothy (Cathie) Colyer of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Randy (Angie) Colyer of McClure and Lori (Brad) Pender of McClure; brother, Ted (Martha) Flowerday of Madison, Mich.; sisters, Judy (Gene) Nagel of Michigamme, Mich., and Maureen (Larry) Dunn of Powell, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Trenton (Megan), Austin, Sean, Casey, Kristin and Caitlyn; and mother-in-law, Wilma Colyer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Colyer; and a sister.

A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel, with Raymond Oxford officiating.

Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery in McClure.
