Cora Marie Williams, daughter of Elmer and Lydia Mae Carnill Covington, was born July 9, 1934, in St. Francis County and departed her life Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau at the age of 89 years.
Marie grew up in the Crump area and moved to Chaffee in 1951. She graduated from Chaffee High School in 1952. She was a faithful member of Chaffee General Baptist Church and retired after 25 from the Chaffee School District as a teacher's assistant.
On July 31, 1953, she was united in marriage to Donald Rex Williams in Chaffee. He preceded her in death Jan. 27, 2023.
Survivors include two sons, Kevin (Genea) Williams of Newburgh, Indiana, and Todd (Guyene) Williams of McGee; five grandchildren, Cody (Ashley) Williams, Dillon Williams, Josh Williams, Riley Payne and Rachel Williams; one great-grandchild, Owen; one brother, Dean (Linda) Covington; and other relatives and many friends.
Besides her husband and parents, Marie was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon and Bob Covington, and by one sister, Norma Harth.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon Thursday, March 7, at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Chaffee.
Funeral will be at noon Thursday, March 7, with the Rev. Bob Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
