Marie Weiss, 87, formerly of Jackson, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 1995, at the Chateau Girardeau Health Center.
She was born Jan. 23, 1908, at Jackson, daughter of William and Minnie Hoffmeister Bodenstein. She and Walter W. Weiss were married Sept. 5, 1935. He preceded her in death May 24, 1990.
Weiss was a member of the Emmanuel United Church of Christ and was a Sunday School teacher and choir member there for more than 50 years and also a member of the Lydia Kies Circle. She was the first female bank employee at the former Jackson Exchange Bank and worked there from 1926 to 1938.
She was a member of the former Jackson Choral Club, and the West Jackson Extension Club. She moved to Jackson in 1988 and lived at Chateau Girardeau for two years.
Survivors include two daughters, Rosemary Gasper of Leawood, Kan., and Martha Maxton of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Mildred Heafner of Alton, Ill.; and two grandsons.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-7 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Sam Roethemeyer and Neil Stein officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
