Marie C. Statler, 100, of Cape Girardeau passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, at Chateau Girardeau.
She was born Oct. 21, 1907, in Sedgewickville, daughter of Ora and Minnie Statler Hahs. She and Lloyd L. Statler were married Nov. 9, 1930. He passed away Oct. 28, 1978.
Marie and Lloyd moved to Cape Girardeau in 1933 and joined Grace United Methodist Church in 1935, where she was the oldest member.
She was a salesclerk at a dress boutique for several years, and did sewing and alterations out of her home.
Marie was very active in the United Methodist Women's group, as well as former president. She was a former Sunday school teacher, and youth leader for the Methodist Youth Fellowship. Being an avid quilter, Marie was a member of the church's quilters guild.
Loving survivors include three sons, the Rev. Jerry (Mary Jane) Statler of Cape Girardeau, Don (Dee) Statler of Troy, Mich., and Gene (Sherry) Statler of Sebring, Fla.; a sister, Lawana Weiss of Columbia, Mo.; and a brother, the Rev. Billy Hahs of Mount Vernon, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
Friends may call today from 4 to 8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, and after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. Scott Moon officiating. Graveside committal, officiated by Rev. Billy Hahs, will follow in Cape County Memorial Park.
