THEBES, Ill. -- Marie Snell, 94, of Thebes died Thursday, May 16, 2013, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Dec. 17, 1918, in Thebes to William Roy and Ida Corzine Simmons. She and Woodrow W. Snell were married Nov. 20, 1935, in Thebes. He preceded her in death March 17, 2003.
Marie was a member of the Church of God in Gale, Ill., where she was Sunday school secretary from 1950 to 1997. She worked as a dresser at International Shoe Factory for 13 years. Marie enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family.
She is survived by two sons, William (Doris) Snell of Thebes and Richard (Imajean) Snell of Carbondale, Ill.; two sisters, Reba (Tom) Enderle and Sharon Reynolds of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren, Steve, Keith and Kevin Snell, Patty (Billy) Mercer and Cindy Shuck; and five great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Triston, Hannah, Dylan and Casey.
Marie was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Thebes.
