Marie M. Nagel, 93, of Gordonville went to her eternal heavenly home Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. Marie M. Nagel, 93, of Gordonville went to her eternal heavenly home Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Oct. 29, 1918, in Dutchtown, daughter of Henry A. and Meyhulda Geiser Schlegel. She and Emil Alvin Nagel were married April 13, 1947. He passed away Jan. 24, 1988.

Marie was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. After she and Emil married she became a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson, and was active in its Ladies Aid. She volunteered many years as a room mother at St. Paul Lutheran School. Marie was a member of Gordonville Homemakers and served as a 4-H cooking leader eight years. She was also a volunteer at Saint Francis Medical Center 15 years.

Loving survivors include three daughters, Sandy (Guy) Brown of Gordonville, Judy (Don) Summers of Cape Girardeau, Kathy (Larry) Meier of Jackson; a son, Dennis (Linda) Nagel of Jackson; eight grandchildren, Wayne Brown, Valerie (Dan) Milner, Bryant (Michele) Carter, Kimberly (Cory) Brotherton, Kim Maddox, Denae and Danielle Nagel, Kristi Meier; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Erna Duckworth of Omaha, Neb.; two brothers, Bill (Lavada) Schlegel of Kelso, Mo., and Melvin Schlegel of Coshocton, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by four brothers; three sisters; a grandson, Terry Ray Brown; and a great-granddaughter, Hailey Maddox.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today from at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Church, with the Rev. David Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
