PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Marie C. Modde, 88, of Perryville died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at Perry County Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 15, 1915, in Belgique, Mo., daughter of Ernst and Mary Moll Wood. She and Edward L. Modde were married Feb. 13, 1936. He died Oct. 1, 1990.
Modde was a nurse's aid at American Care Center. She was a member of St.Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Ladies of Charity, Ministry and Praise and Married Ladies of Sodality in Belgique.
Survivors include four daughters, Lela Wriston of Fenton, Mo., Nancy Hager and Mona Clements, both of Perryville, and Pat Kavano of Manchester, Mo.; three sons, John Modde of Perryville, Larry Modde of St. Charles, Mo., and Jerry Modde of St. Peters, Mo.; 23 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, a daughter, three brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday at Young and Sons Chapel, and from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Catholic wake at 7 p.m. Monday; rosary will be at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Revs. Kevin Fausz and Brad Modde as concelebrants.
Burial will be in Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery in Belgique.
