JACKSON, Mo. -- Marie Miller Kinder, 100, of Jackson died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, at the Advance Nursing Center.
She was born Oct. 13, 1899, in Jackson, daughter of Linder and Bertha McLane Miller. She and L.A. Kinder were married June 8, 1935. He died Nov. 5, 1979.
Mrs. Kinder was a lifelong resident of the Jackson community. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jackson and the Women of the Church.
She graduated from Jackson High School in 1918. She is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University. She attended the University of California, University of Wisconsin, and the former Harding College in Mexico, Mo.
Mrs. Kinder taught elementary school in Crystal City, Mo., and Jackson for 25 years. She was a member of Jackson Retired Teachers Association and CLIO Sorority. She was a former member of Cane Creek Homemakers Club and received her 45-year pin from the Cooperative Extension Service.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Shirley Kinder of Jackson; four grandchildren, Cynthia Mirly, Rodney Kinder, Deborah Abernathy and Timothy Kinder, all of Jackson; and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Grant Gillard officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church of Jackson.
