Jannie "Marie" Huckstep, 97, formerly of Jackson, passed away Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Oct. 27, 1911, near Sedgewickville, Mo., daughter of John Calvin and Frona Looney Pulliam. She and William Huckstep were married Sept. 6, 1941, in Jackson. He passed away Jan. 8, 1978.
Marie graduated from the former Patton High School in 1929. She worked at the former Jackson Shoe Factory, was a housekeeper at the former Jackson Motel, worked at Lowenbaum Garment Factory in Cape Girardeau 15 years and did private quilting from her home. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson.
Loving survivors include two sons, Billy (Sue) Huckstep of Jackson, Jerry (Jacquie) Huckstep of Scott City; two sisters, Mildred Fann of Doniphan, Mo., Glenda Cotner of Washington, Mo.; two grandchildren, Tracie Huckstep and Timothy Huckstep; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, four brothers and a sister.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Grant Gillard officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
