PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Marie M. Hayden, 86, of Perryville died Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born July 29, 1933, in Perryville to Andrew and Philomena Ponder Winschel. She and Joseph M. Hayden Jr. were married April 26, 1952. He preceded her in death Oct. 17, 2015...

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Marie M. Hayden, 86, of Perryville died Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 29, 1933, in Perryville to Andrew and Philomena Ponder Winschel. She and Joseph M. Hayden Jr. were married April 26, 1952. He preceded her in death Oct. 17, 2015.

Marie was a typist for the Republic Monitor Newspaper in Perryville; she then worked at Prince Gardner as an inspector. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Ladies Sodality, Adorer of the Eucharist and member of the '51 Club. She loved playing cards and bingo. Marie was very well known for her delicious coconut creme pies.

Survivors include daughters, Deborah M. (Dale) Schemel, Karen K. Hayden and Kindra S. Herzog, all of Perryville; son-in-law, Ronald Niccum of Perryville; grandchildren, Ryan (Mackenzie) Schemel, Aaron Schemel, Andrew Hayden, Amber (Nathan) Miller, Ashley (Steven) Unterreiner, Janel (Josh) Erzfeld, Jessica K. Vernon, Kayla Meier, Joseph Herzog, Morgan Herzog and Megan Herzog; and great-grandchildren, Cole Schemel, Madalyn Schemel, Caroline Miller, Aiden and Gaige Unterreiner, Aubrie Shenette, Brianna Kimmet, Riley and Brayden Miller.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Denise E. Niccum; sisters, Ursula Michaud, Veronica Butler, Lorraine Timmerman, Rita Richardet and Shirley Huber; and brothers, Linus Winschel, Cletus Winschel and Gilbert Winschel.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, with a rosary at 8:30 a.m., at Ford and Young Funeral Home in Perryville.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, with the Rev. Rich Wehrmeyer officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Perryville.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Vincent de Paul Schools or Church.
