Marie B. Hartwig, 92, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, at The Lutheran Home. She was born Oct. 7, 1918, in Kelso, Mo., to Frank G. and Ortha Louise Heiserer Schafer. She and Clarence Fritz Meinz were married March 30, 1940. He preceded her in death on March 23, 1950. She then married Clarence Edgar Hartwig Jan. 23, 1962. He preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 1971...

Marie B. Hartwig, 92, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, at The Lutheran Home.

She was born Oct. 7, 1918, in Kelso, Mo., to Frank G. and Ortha Louise Heiserer Schafer. She and Clarence Fritz Meinz were married March 30, 1940. He preceded her in death on March 23, 1950. She then married Clarence Edgar Hartwig Jan. 23, 1962. He preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 1971.

Marie was member of St. Mary's Cathedral and Council of Catholic Women. She was head cook at New Orleans Restaurant almost 30 years.

Survivors include a son, Walter Ray Meinz of Blue Springs, Miss.; a daughter, Mary Helen Robinson of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Frank Schafer of Shelbyville, Ill.; two sisters, Emma Marx of San Jose, Calif., Marilyn Vaughn of Winfield, Mo.; four grandsons, Dan Robinson of Arizona, Mark Robinson of Montana, Joseph Robinson of Colorado, Mike (Kelly) Meinz of Mississippi; a granddaughter, K.T. (Mike) Cook of Iowa; six great-granddaughters; three great-grandsons; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Zeno, George, Raymond and Louis Schafer; four sisters, Celetsa Kempfer, Lee Anna Jones, Annie Hoffman and Zita Schafer.

Visitation will be from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral Mass will be at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
