Marie Butler, 85, of Jackson passed away Monday, Oct. 30, 2006, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home. She was born May 1, 1921, in Morley, Mo., daughter of Luther and Ida Bryant Gipson. She and Tony L. Butler were married Oct. 23, 1937, in Benton, Mo. He passed away Aug. 18, 1992...

Marie Butler, 85, of Jackson passed away Monday, Oct. 30, 2006, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home.

She was born May 1, 1921, in Morley, Mo., daughter of Luther and Ida Bryant Gipson.

She and Tony L. Butler were married Oct. 23, 1937, in Benton, Mo. He passed away Aug. 18, 1992.

In 1950, Marie and her family moved from Sikeston, Mo., to Jackson. She worked for Wibs Drive-In from 1958 to 1963, and did seamstress work out of her home many years.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson since 1950.

Loving survivors include a son, David (Bonnie) Butler of Arnold, Mo.; a daughter, Barbara (Dennis) Hurst of Jackson; eight grandchildren, Scott and Rusty (Wendy) Butler, and Julie Hillman, Dennis Hurst Jr. and Rodney (Carol) Hurst, Nicki (Jeff) Turner, Stacy (Heidi) Langston, and Kent (Cherish) Langston; 10 great-grandchildren, Virginia , Ryan, and Kristen Butler, Heather and Colby Hurst, Jessica Welker, Christopher and Tyler Hurst, Dillon and Kaylee Bowen.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Tony Kay Langston; a granddaughter; three brothers; and two sisters.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home, with the Revs. Dan Dozier and Eric Snyder officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to First Baptist Church in Jackson Library Fund.
