ANNA, Ill. -- Marie Elizabeth Belcher, 86, of Anna died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Nov. 28, 1914, at Albion, Ill., daughter of Harry and Mamie Curtis Tinckham. She and Willis L. Belcher were married Dec. 12, 1936, at Anna.
Belcher was a member of the United Methodist Church in Anna, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school classes and attended a women's club and Bible classes. She was president of the United Methodist Women three times and served on the church board for many years. Belcher had worked as a nurse at Anna State Hospital, Holden Hospital in Anna and served as the school nurse for District No. 37 for 32 years.
Survivors include her husband; a son, John Belcher of Anna; a daughter, Wanda Dillow of Anna; a brother, John Tinckham of Albion, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, two brothers, a sister and a granddaughter.
Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 4-7 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Anna United Methodist Church. The Rev. Sidney Davis will officiate, will burial in Anna Cemetery.
